Gave the splitter some love . Painted the frame on the born free build and did some machining on some stuff. All in all a pretty mild week.

Points cover prototype

Milled out some shit last night, some of it was a points cover that I designed for a sporty.  After making this I decided to change the bolt pattern to left and right and tweak the program a bit to smooth out the tooling .  I gave this one to Papa bear for his aluminum sporty.

Engraving sample

Post for the tool path.

A dude that I work with is making some center caps for some wheels on a 70's Camaro and asked me to engrave a sample of the 396.   Polish job not so good and you can see the weld seam but like I said, its a sample of the engraving.     Did some paint work last night too but its just a white tank so I didn't bother to take a picture.

Bulls eye points cover

This points cover turned out nice and matches the ball milling on the rest of the bike perfect.  Think this is good item to offer in my planned web shop ?    I have several things that I make all the time that I can add but haven't wanted to start it without a new shirt design, if that makes any sense at all.

Rearsets for Virago and XS650 with Linkage

I put together the universal linkage kit last night.
Basically they consist of  of 6061 T6 Aluminum tubing with some high strength 1/4-28 Rod running through the center that you can cut to what ever length you come up with.  The rod ends are high quality steel.  They come with jam nuts and stainless nuts and bolts to bolt onto your modified shift lever and brake lever.
The installation plan is that you can mock it all up using the threaded rod  being sure to keep as much thread engagement as possible into the rod ends. After that disassemble the ends from the threaded rod and measure the rod length.  To cut the aluminum tube simply subtract 2 inches from the threaded rod length and cut.  Be sure to tighten the jam nuts onto the tube to about 10 - 15 foot lbs. because the tension compression of the tube and rod adds to its strength and is most important on the brake side.  This is the cleanest way to make your own linkage if all you have is a hack saw and a drill .  If you want you can brush, anodize or polish the aluminum tube for a custom look.
I have a set up at Cafe Racer Ypsi on display if you need to touchy feely a set.

Production Rearsets are done.

This batch of rear sets has a top linkage for clearance over stock exhaust systems.
They should fit XS650 with a slight bend of the kicker and they do fit the Virago.  these should be nice and easy to fit on anything with a exhaust mount or rear peg holes.   I do not have a awesome universal linkage yet but I should have something in about a week. If you want to make your own linkage, I can sell you a set without it .   I will make myself available for technical assistance if you are having trouble fitting them on your project and I plan on putting up some online instructions.
These rear-set levers are CNC cut from 100% 6061 T6 extruded aluminum bar stock and all of the pegs are hand machined from the same and can take a beating, so much so that I can offer a replacement part warranty for a cheap service fee.  In other words if you smash up peg or bend a lever ,  send it back and I will repair or replace it for gas money.  That applies if you have some modifications to make within reason as well.     Write me at seidlry@aol.com   or comment on this blog if you have questions.

on another note , My camera is still broke but I have an old iphone that I'm going to start using for the time being.

Rearset Production , Virago kits n' shit

These first ones are all spoken for but I have 5 more sets in process and I expect to have some up at Cafe Racer Ypsi by Tuesday.  I have a few that visit this site that are interested as well ( I haven't forgotten about you ).  Some time this winter I plan on putting in a web store with all of this stuff that I make all the time.  The final price for these will be around $375.00 set .  I plan on supplying some sort of a linkage kit for the custom applications and a install kit for the Virago.  Also working on a XS650 kit that will mount these right on the rear peg mounts.  I just have to measure the size and thread pitch of the stud that pokes out back there.   Ask me about a set   seidlry@aol.com
On a different note,  I am so fed up with the generator charging systems on the sprint and old Harley's and every ones shit ass junk box electronic regulators that.... I am developing my own .  I am working with my good friend Mike Wyese  ( I call him Peeps , don't remember why though ) and we are coming up with a internally fused self polarizing diode protected unit .  Mike is the electronics guru for problems like this and we have been successful together in the past .   This, coupled with some cool packaging should be sweet.    It sucks when your the " go to guy for this sort of thing " and cant figure it out, who do I have to go to ?

Excuses and stuff

My camera has completely shit all over the place again so I wasn't able to get you anything current.
Over the weekend I finished up a couple of rear-set controls for the virago's that will soon be on sale.
Every bike that Mini-b owns will not charge a battery and it is pissing us off to no end.
Above,  I love the seat.  I thought about doing this to my turbo Honda but I didn't want to cook my potatoes.
The one on the bottom I blog jacked a while back because I could imagine it being a blast with Greg , Brad and Gabby .   I just haven't gotten out as much as I wanted to over the summer.    Seems like I say that every year, I really have to remedy that.
In the mean time I have almost zero jobs in the shop that are going to pay out right away and its stressing me out a bit.  I have invested quite a bit into the rear-set project and the virago mess along with the mill breaking down has really tossed a wrench in my gears.   This time of year always sucks ass .   OK enough whining, I'm done now.

Sissy

Just a all aluminum sissy bar that I'm working on for a low and fat custom. Customers design that I adjusted to fit his bike. It should look sweet after I metal finish and polish it to match the rest of his bike.

CB750 Super Over Built Fork Brace

I wanted to add a fork brace and the fender I'm using has a ugly bump inbetween the fork tubes so I thought a industrial strength fork brace might be just what the ole beast needs.

We will see how it looks after I trim the fender to fit.

Got the shine on

All I need to do now is put a gas hole in it and slosh some tank liner through it and it will be ready to go. His goal is to get this bike done in time for the chilli cook off in Plymouth Michigan in about a week or so.

Tweaking the Taint Splitter ( my XS650 Bobber )

Made a new kickstand , similar to the old one just with allot more ground clearance so I can turn left like a man. The timing chain tensioner cover was leaking a bit of oil all over the place so I made a new one last night that should do the trick, plus it looks killer on there.

Put in a new clutch actuator cam in too from Mikes XS that made a hell of a difference in the feel of it. This bike has been super cool to me and I'm having a blast riding it.
