cant wait to get turbo cb going again.

With the fresh motor that I built for it and some other stuff I need to do I will be lucky to get on it this season.    Besides the basic engine swap, I am planning on making a new intake manifold and do some finer finish work to the details on the mechanics.  I also would like to make a mold of the fuel tank so I can make a composite fuel tank shell that will go over top of a fuel cell to lighten the bike up.  I put so much lead in that tank when I stretched it that it should have never been used on a real motorcycle.   I would also like to lower the fairing and headlamp assembly although it is in the perfect position to streamline the bike to its abnormally round rider ( Me ) I cant get over the awkwardness of it.
I plan on rolling it into the shop as soon as I finish the XRTT project and I' m getting pretty excited

Bee Hive

I took a few minutes and finished building the head for the CB750F Turbo motor the other night.
I did a bit of chamber reshaping and porting a while back and I received the springs and seals from Cycle X last week so I lapped the valves and stuck them in.  Amazing how much lighter these are and I have high hopes for a more angry red line without all the coughing and inconsistencies that the boat anchor motor that's in the bike now has.

CB750 Extreme Choppin

I had a donor bike for that I've been hording for a little while here and finally had a minute to strip it out . Mini-b was day dreaming of a super short trike chop when I snapped these pictures. I mainly wanted it for the the engine. The engine seems pretty tight and I was thinking of swapping it into the turbo bike and rebuild the one that is in it now. Maybe that way I can make it more than 50 miles without changing the # 4 plug.

Some Stuff From The TON-UP Fest

The green bike, a pretty bitchin H1Kaw with a GSXR front and rear . Looks like fun!
The rest below that are just some cool CB750 SOHC's .
Mini's Sprint won best small cafe racer and My Turbo Honda CB750 won best engineering or something presented by the local community college , it was pretty cool. It is all on film as well, The Cafe Racer TV crew was with us all weekend so if you catch the show in the fall you will see my ugly mug with my ego all pumped up.
The Sprint battery took a complete shit and we almost didnt make it to the show . One of the few things we bought new and its scrap now. Lucky for us John at Cafe Racer Ypsi had a emergency lighting battery that got it going just fine . Thanks John.
Special thanks to Bob for the top 4 pictures and just being a creepy nice dude and helping out.

Cool Shock Spacers I Made Last Night

Made these last night to stiffen up the rear springs on a 80's cb750. They add another 13mm to the stiffness . Basically doubles the spring adjuster for the round fellows like myself.

Looking for a Bendix Zenith Carb

I have almost given up on the CV carb for the turbo bike. I have maxed out the the main jet and it seems that I am no where near the fuel it needs when it goes into a boost condition. I think the plunger is getting confused and seems to shut when the air really starts moving. The slow jet and idle is perfect now though and it actually drives OK until you want to open it up . It is as difficult to tune as I thought it would be, but I had high hopes for at least a good base tune by now.

Anyone have a old Bendix Carb from a Ironhead or something? These worked well on the old Z1Rtc's and with the adjustable main jet it should make easy work of base line tuning.

I still need to pull some timing out as well and screw around with the advance curve before it is ever 100% tuned. Not to mention it already seems to blow through the clutch when the boost starts coming on so I will have to address that at some point.

shake down complete

Well its seems that it's running a bit lean after taking it for a spin.

I had a bit of oil spew onto the back tire because i had over filled it a bit and I'm glad I didn't wreck over it.

Tightened a few bolts and packed it away .

No sound byte yet guys, in all honesty you cant hear the turbo spool up but you sure can tell when its kickin in.

CB750 Turbo, 1 Air Filter Away From Done!

I know these are the worst ever pictures .

I got the new rubber on the bike , put on the chain , gave it a once over and rolled it out of the shop because its getting a bit to tight in there. I ordered a Mooneyes air filter assembly for the CV carb . Not the custom one I wanted to make but still old school cool. All I need is some gas and its test ride time.

Rich, it's time !

Turbo CB750 , on the floor

It looks different on the floor. still need tires and some test and tune.
Shawn at 333 just bought a Dyno and he owes me a favor . will be fun to see what it can do without killing myself. I will do the killing on it later

CB750 Turbo Seat and Gaby's Guzzi

I might be finished with the seat for the Honda, I'm not quite sure if its what I envisioned but it looks good. Just doesn't have that wow factor that I imagined.

Gabby's Guzzi , all metal finish and primed . I like to give the primer as long as possible to cure to minimize the shrinkage factor before I wet block it out.

Making the seat and other details

Top: No, the seat will not be grey , that is just the foam rough cut and somewhat shaped. There will be much work to individualy wrap each bumpy thing with leather and finish it off nice.

Middle: Gas tank knob with a leather washer.

Bottom: Just a bullshit pic of the ole turbo four as she sits today, flat tires and all.

Instrument panel without instruments.

Still need to get the gauges but otherwise wiring is done.

I got it fired up over the weekend and it looks like the #1 cylinder is a bit oily. It's to soon to say if it need to come out , there are a few issues at play. In spite of the smoke it seams to run pretty good. I will definitely need to put the larger jets in the carb but I was able to trim the low end in pretty quick. Mini b was there and he snuck some video on his giant phone. I will post that when he sends it to me.

Shootin the wiring on the old girl

Building the wiring harness for the CB750F Turbo bike. I like making wire harnesses, its very relaxing , well it is when you have a good schematic that is. Once you've done a few old CB's it is all real similar and I don't put turn signals on any of my builds .

Just a little more assembly

I put the fairing and front fender on last night.

I need to pull off the header and start to metal finish that before I get everything so nice that I'm afraid to take it apart.

Turbo CB750 Progress Report

Still waiting on a oil pump. Clear coated the fairing, fender and that stupid fuel door I forgot to paint last night. Need to start putting together controls and instruments . Also need to wire it but that is my least of problems, I'm more concerned about brake lines and junk.

got the shine on

With a little help from diesel over at the ZON, I picked the gold for the stripe . Notice the fuel door in the background that I forgot to clear ( son of a bitch!! ). I'm very happy with the way this is coming out. Diesel, What do you think ?

Waiting on a new oil pump for it because there was just to much wear on the one that was in there for me to trust.

period correct

Melting my brain trying to pick out a pin striping color now.

Some more random shots of the turbo cb project.

Put oil in it last night. doing some flow experiments on the oil system without actually starting it.

Gotta find some skinny hose clamps to clamp on the turbo hose and intake yet . Much fiddle fuckin to be done to it.

CB750 Turbo, Oil Cooler Adapted

I know somebody makes these but they didn't have the flow relief valve in it like the automotive cooler adaptors have . So I bought a automotive one and made a adaptor plate for it. Came out pretty nice if you ask me.

You can see the cooler core mounted below the filter too. This means my oil system is 100% complete. ( unless I keep changing shit )..

CB750 Turbo R1 Rear Set Adaptors

Designed, NC milled and test fit My rear set adaptors yesterday. Now I just have to tap 52 holes. Fun Fun.
